TPS at a Crossroads. Do Not Panic. Let’s Prepare! Spanish French Haitian Creole TPS at a Crossroads. Do Not Panic. Let’s Prepare! Following the Latest Supreme Court Ruling The June 25’s Supreme Court decision is deeply concerning for TPS holders and immigrant communities nationwide. The Court limited lower courts’ ability to review DHS decisions to terminate TPS, and allowed the terminations for Haiti and Syria to move forward. For Haitian TPS holders, the Court also signaled that the racial discrimination claim is unlikely to succeed, which has already ended court-issued protections for Haitian TPS holders. This ruling does not mean TPS status is stripped away immediately for everyone today. In places where district court orders are still in effect, TPS protections remain in place for now. But unless there is another legal intervention, the Supreme Court’s decision is expected to take effect in about 32 days. What this means TPS terminations for Haiti and Syria are moving forward.Lower courts now have much less ability to stop TPS terminations unless a constitutional claim survives.Haitian TPS holders face immediate legal danger because the Court rejected the discrimination theory in that case. Some litigation is still active, so not all legal options are closed. For Families and Communities This ruling does not only affect TPS holders. It affects families, workplaces, schools, and communities that depend on TPS protections. Many TPS holders have lived in the United States for years, raised children, built careers, and contributed to their communities. Ending protections without meaningful review creates fear, instability, and separation.TPS, DACA, and birthright citizenship are connected struggles. The fight for temporary protection is part of the larger fight for family unity, dignity, and a path to legal permanent status. A Call To Action The fight for TPS protections is not over, and community action matters more than ever. We encourage everyone to learn about Senate Bill S. 4814, which would designate Haiti for TPS and help protect Haitian families from losing vital immigration relief. It is time for our U.S. Citizen family, friends, neighbors, and members of our communities to call and email their senators and ask them to vote YES. HBA and its partner organizations continue to advocate for stronger protections through legal advocacy, public education, coalition-building, and direct community support. These efforts are focused on defending TPS holders, expanding protections, and demanding long-term solutions that keep families together and communities stable.Find here more resources for TPS for all countriesStay alert.
