DIEGO, CA — This Labor Day, Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) honors the vital contributions of Haitian and immigrant workers to the U.S. economy while raising alarm over the Trump administration’s escalating deportation policies that threaten hundreds of thousands of lives. HBA stands in solidarity with Haitian workers who have long powered sectors such as manufacturing, caregiving, and logistics, and urges policymakers to extend humane protections—especially as the revocation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and other immigration benefits places more than 500,000 Haitians at imminent risk of deportation.

“Haitian immigrants and other immigrant workers are the backbone of so many essential sectors—from caregiving to construction—yet they face disproportionate legal and economic vulnerabilities,” said Guerline Jozef, Executive Director of Haitian Bridge Alliance and a recipient of the 2025 AFL-CIO Human Rights Award “This Labor Day, we must not only celebrate labor, but also recommit to removing barriers—such as lack of legal status, access to fair wages, and anti-Black bias—that undermine the dignity and safety of immigrant workers. Fair treatment is not a privilege—it’s a fundamental right.”
