HAITIAN BRIDGE ALLIANCE HONORS THE LEGACY OF FATHER GUILLERMO TREVIÑO: A CHAMPION FOR IMMIGRANTS AND JUSTICE

San Diego, CA. — Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) expresses profound sorrow at the passing of Reverend Father Guillermo Treviño, aged 39, pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Father Treviño, a beloved community leader and tireless advocate for immigrant justice, passed away on October 31, 2025, following complications from undiagnosed diabetes.

Father Treviño dedicated his life to amplifying the voices of the marginalized—particularly immigrants and workers navigating injustice and exclusion. As a founding member and chaplain of Escucha Mi Voz Iowa, his ministry combined faith with fearless advocacy. He was nationally recognized for his leadership, including being honored with the National Cardinal Bernardin New Leadership Award  and participating in the World Meeting of Popular Movements at the Vatican.

“Father Guillermo Treviño embodied the very spirit of solidarity,” said Guerline Jozef, Executive Director of the Haitian Bridge Alliance. “He stood with the poor, the displaced, and the forgotten—not because it was convenient, but because it was right. His life reminds us that faith is not passive; it is action rooted in love and justice. We mourn his passing deeply, but we also celebrate a legacy that will continue to inspire movements for immigrant dignity and equality across this nation.”
