San Diego, California— Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) proudly honors Martin Luther King Day, recognizing the enduring legacy of Dr. King’s commitment to justice, equality, and human rights. On this day, we reflect on the principles of unity, solidarity, and the ongoing pursuit of a more just and inclusive society. As an organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for the rights of migrants and immigrants, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering understanding, compassion, and positive change through comprehensive immigration reform, and progressive climate change policy in the spirit of Dr. King’s dream. On this day, we urge the United States Senate and the Biden Administration to live up to the dreams of Martin Luther King by rejecting and stand against any racist, draconian, and inhumane measures that compromise the values of compassion, justice, and humanity—values that are the bedrock of our nation.

HBA remains committed to working in close collaboration with the administration and members of Congress to ensure the passage of comprehensive, lawful, and humane immigration reform. We look forward to the passage of comprehensive immigration reform in the next Congress that would include a pathway to green card and citizenship for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and DACA recipients. We further hope that the Congressional Black Caucus, including civil rights organizations can amplify their voice on the matter to highlight that immigration is a Black issue and to center the realities of Black asylum seekers fleeing persecution from various countries including the Republic of Haiti, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea and Mauritania, at the border and Black immigrants in the U.S
