HAITIAN BRIDGE ALLIANCE CALLS FOR HUMAN DIGNITY IN IMMIGRATION POLICY UNDER PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD J. TRUMP

San Diego, CA – The Haitian Bridge Alliance strongly condemns President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration policy to seal the border and initiate what he has described as “the largest deportation operation in American history.” This rhetoric not only stigmatizes immigrants but also risks tearing families apart, creating widespread fear and destabilizing communities. Such proposals, which will disproportionately impact migrants and immigrants who are of African descent, disregard the invaluable contributions of immigrant communities to the social and economic fabric of this nation and fuel unnecessary fear and instability.

“Haitian Bridge Alliance firmly believes in immigration policies that reflect core American values of empathy, justice, and inclusion. Labeling immigrants as an ‘invasion’ is both inaccurate and deeply harmful, dismissing the profound reasons people seek refuge in the United States—reasons rooted in the pursuit of safety, stability, and opportunity. Many of these crises are a direct result of U.S. foreign policies that have contributed to economic and security collapse in various regions. At a time when the nation stands at a crossroads, we must choose unity and compassion over division and isolation.”

Despite this divisive language, we remain hopeful. We call on the President-elect to look beyond fear-based approaches and to work toward policies that respect human dignity, protect family unity, and build stronger communities. Haitian Bridge Alliance stands ready to partner with leaders across the political spectrum and other advocacy groups to advocate for progressive, humane immigration reform. Our communities do not need sweeping deportations; they need pathways to stability and contributions that enrich our society.
