San Diego, CA –  The Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) strongly supports the introduction of the Dream and Promise Act introduced in the House of Representatives led by Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX-29), which received bipartisan support. This vital piece of legislation will provide a long-overdue pathway to permanent residency and ultimately U.S. citizenship for thousands of Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients, including many Haitians who have built their lives in the United States.

In light of President Trump’s announcement to terminate TPS for roughly 534,000 Haitians and more than 350,000 Venezuelans who may have to return to violent and dangerous conditions in their home country, if the administration does not reverse its decision, the introduction of this bill is timely.

Guerline Jozef, Executive Director of Haitian Bridge Alliance
“The introduction of the Dream and Promise Act represents a critical step toward justice, dignity, and stability for thousands of families who have contributed immensely to this country. We urge lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to support this historic legislation and protect the futures of Dreamers, TPS, and DED recipients. We also urge the public to join us in advocating for the passage of this bill by contacting their representatives and making their voices heard.”
