SAN DIEGO, CA — Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) applauds Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia’s  leadership in launching a discharge petition to bring the American Dream and Promise Act, HR 1519, to a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. This critical effort represents an important opportunity to deliver long-overdue protections for Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients who have spent years contributing to their communities and the nation they call home.

.“Since 2018, impacted TPS holders, DREAMERS and DED recipients have been fighting for the American Dream and Promise Act because our community members deserve the opportunity to live with dignity, security, and peace of mind,” said Guerline Jozef, Executive Director of Haitian Bridge Alliance. “These individuals are not asking for special treatment—they are asking for the chance to continue contributing to the only communities many of them know as home. They have worked, raised families, paid taxes, and strengthened this country. Congress must act to ensure that families are not torn apart and that people who have invested so much in America are given a permanent path forward.”

Haitian Bridge Alliance urges Congress to act swiftly to advance this critical legislative effort. HBA remains committed to continuing its advocacy on behalf of Dreamers, TPS holders, DED recipients and immigrant families, while pursuing all legislative avenues necessary to secure permanent protections and prevent family separation.
