San Diego, CA— Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) welcomes and supports the filing submitted this week in Trump v. Miot, which urges the United States Supreme Court to dismiss the case as improvidently granted and allow the lower courts to fully review newly disclosed evidence concerning the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians.

According to the filing submitted by the Miot legal team, evidence uncovered during ongoing litigation raises serious questions regarding the process used to terminate TPS and whether the decision was reached through the objective review required by law. The filing argues that the courts should have the opportunity to consider this expanded factual record before a final determination is made.

The case carries profound consequences for more than 300,000 Haitian TPS holders living and working in the United States. At the same time, Haiti continues to experience an unprecedented humanitarian and security crisis marked by widespread gang violence, mass displacement, and the collapse of critical public institutions.

“The rule of law requires more than a decision—it requires a fair and lawful process,” said Guerline Jozef, Executive Director of Haitian Bridge Alliance. “The evidence emerging in this litigation raises troubling concerns that the effort to terminate TPS for Haitians may have been driven by a predetermined political outcome rather than the careful, evidence-based review contemplated by Congress when it created the TPS program. Before hundreds of thousands of Haitian families are stripped of protection, the courts must have the opportunity to examine the full record and determine whether the law was faithfully followed.”

HBA supports the Miot filing and urges the Supreme Court to reject the Government’s request, affirm the findings of lower courts, and allow the judicial review process to move forward.”
